J Tomlinson has been jointly shortlisted for an East Midlands Energy Efficiency award alongside long-term client Ashfield District Council following a project which will help householders keep warm and save thousands of pounds on their fuel bills.
The Large Scale Project of the Year Award recognises the efforts of the teams involved in delivering a successful large-scale energy saving project, while maintaining excellent customer service, that demonstrates a high standard of quality workmanship throughout the project.
The shortlisted nomination is based around an energy and thermal efficiency project J Tomlinson undertook on behalf of the council across 36 bungalows on the Coxmoor Estate, Sutton-in-Ashfield, in 2017. The works required as part of the project were extensive, comprising external wall insulation and replacement roof covering, as well as the replacement of windows and external doors. The estimated energy savings brought about as a result of this project is 50 tonnes per annum, which equates to an annual saving of £450 per household.
One tenant commented: “The difference in heating is unbelievable and the bungalow is so much warmer without the heating on.”
Winners in each category will be announced at an evening ceremony taking place at the Radisson Blu East Midlands Airport on April 18th.
Last year, J Tomlinson’s repairs and maintenance division took home the title of Small Scale Project of the Year at the West Midlands Energy Efficiency awards following a ground source heat pump project that was undertaken on behalf of Wolverhampton-based housing group, Bromford.
Launched in 2016, the East Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency & Healthy Homes Awards provide public recognition of outstanding energy-efficiency works that have helped people to reduce their energy bills, tackle fuel poverty and minimise carbon emissions.
Ashfield District Council has also been shortlisted in the Landlord of the Year category, which seeks to reward the efforts of a housing association or landlord that has shown a true commitment to energy efficiency within their region.
All regional winners will be eligible to enter the National awards, which will take place in Birmingham later this year.
