J Tomlinson has extended its emergency services portfolio after being awarded a five-year repairs and maintenance contract by South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue.
The company has worked with fire, ambulance and police services for more than 20 years – building new premises, providing mechanical and electrical improvements, undertaking refurbishment work and providing facilities management services.
The Nottingham-based firm, which recently opened a Yorkshire office in Wakefield, is currently providing maintenance and other services to a number of blue light organisations, including South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS), North Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Now South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue has awarded J Tomlinson a £225,000 contract to service 22 sites, including fire stations and other premises. The five-year contract, with an option of two additional years, began last month (November). It includes planned preventative maintenance and reactive work.
Martin Ardron, Operational Director at J Tomlinson, said: “As a company, J Tomlinson has extensive experience of supporting the emergency services with construction projects, repairs and maintenance and other work. It’s a specialist sector, requiring specific expertise.
“We are delighted to have been appointed by South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue to provide planned preventative maintenance and reactive work across 22 sites in support of their valuable role in the community.”
South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue is the statutory fire and rescue service for the area of South Yorkshire, serving a population of approximately 1.29 million people. It covers Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster areas.
Director of Support Services Stuart Booth said: “We’re investing in hard facilities management because we realise that part of making our organisation a great place to work is about providing our staff with a good quality environment to live and work in. For us, that means responding quickly to facilities related issues raised by our staff and carrying out preventative maintenance work to stop problems with our estate from happening in the first place. We’re pleased to have appointed a contractor who we think will deliver on both of those points.”
J Tomlinson operates primarily across South Yorkshire, the East Midlands and the West Midlands, offering a range of integrated building services which include construction, mechanical and electrical services (M&E), facilities management, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance and regeneration.
The company works in many sectors, including blue light, commercial, industrial, health, heritage, supported living and residential.
