Popular Derbyshire farm shop Croots has organised a cracker of a Christmas for customers this year with festive food, drinks, gifts and entertainment on the table.
It will also be raising money for its adopted charity Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre by staging a Christmas hamper raffle.
The farm shop near Duffield has just launched its Swinging Forest of Enchantment – a novel way to choose a Christmas tree – where visitors can see beautiful Derbyshire-grown Nordman non-drop Christmas trees hanging…just as they’d look in a home. Take a stroll and select one that perfectly suits your space. Christmas tree prices start from £35. Buy a medium-sized tree or above, and receive a £5 voucher to spend in Croots Farm Shop or café.
Meanwhile, Holly Jolly events with Santa are taking place for children on selected dates throughout December. These include a Croots breakfast or a special festive afternoon tea – all served by magical elves – and the chance to decorate Christmas tree-shaped cookie baubles or Christmas tree cornets, a packet of reindeer food, and a meeting with Santa, where each child receives a gift. Booking is essential. Price per child is £16.50.
New for this year at Croots, which is based at Farnah Farm, Wirksworth Road, is a Christmas gift and decoration marquee, with a selection of hand-picked presents including home and kitchen ranges, hampers, children’s gifts, cards and more.
Choose hampers from the carefully prepared range put together by the Croots team or select your own contents from the Croots’ locally sourced range of luxury food and drink items.
“We work with many local and regional suppliers, many of which are Great Taste Award winners, and we can prepare hampers from £25 to £125, which make ideal gifts for family, friends, business colleagues or staff,” said Steve Croot, who runs the farm shop with wife Kay.
In addition, the award-winning farm shop has an impressive array of festive food and drink on sale in the shop, including festive tipples, mouth-watering party food and homemade desserts. Meat orders are now being taken, with a wide range of locally reared and produced options available.
Local turkeys are from Robert Scragg, quality beef from nearby Hazelwood Farm, and home-produced Croots lamb, free-range poultry and items from Packington Free Range in Staffordshire are also on offer.
A festive menu has just been launched in Croots café – featuring delicious starter, main course and pudding options – and a new festive afternoon tea menu has also been launched. Booking is essential for lunch (available from noon to 2.30pm from 1st to 24th December).
“Christmas is a special time of year at Croots and we look forward to welcoming children and their families to our Holly Jolly Santa events and showing customers around our Swinging Forest of Enchantment, where they can pick their locally grown Christmas tree,” added Steve.
